Meu Brasil Brasileiro, San Francisco Fall Antique Show

In 2016 I was invited to create one of the four vignettes in the entrance of the San Francisco Fall Arts and Antique show. One of the important social events of the year, the SFFAAS has become an institution in a city known for its arts and culture.

Following the show’s theme “Animalia: Animal Imagery in Art and Antiques”, my vignette,“Meu Brasil Brasileiro”, was designed to not only honor my home country of Brazil but also to bring awareness to its endangered species.

The custom wallpaper by De Gournay was inspired by the exotic paintings of Henri Rousseau. Exotic trees, flowers and grasses reveal many of the endangered species of Brazil.

Highlighted in the vignette is an iconic sofa by Brazilian artist Jose Zanine Caldas. Jeff Zimmerman’s “vine vert” chandelier blends with the background…as if fruit from a tropical tree. A collection of antique Santos from my collection completes the scene.
